Laxative

Friday, August 21, 2009

Will probably put an end to this constipated web log, clogged with juvenile thoughts, unglamorous occasion, well, and tiny bits of proud memories.

More importantly, wordpress seems to have cooler dashboard design, theme and control over the management of a blog. Will shift when I have the time to do so. Next weekend maybe. After cleaning the filthy room, messy notes and derailed thoughts.

Too much stuff in the brain to deliberate on. The desperate state for excellent academic results, knowledge, commitments, estimable work and at times, dealing with shoddy comrades. Hmm.

Ya. That's about it.

Bye Bye.

I might be back. You know larrr, nowadays a bit cuckoo.

Was at MV yesterday for KLPF (KL Photography Festival) 2009. The usual exhibitors were there, so were a throng of enthusiast, especially during the model shootout contest. I bought a lenspen and attended a seminar on travel and photography.

DSC_0004

None of these pictures were shot at the KLPF exhibition hall. Instead, at the opposite one where they showcased crafts, food and travel packages to Thailand.

GI-Joe after KLPF at MV yesterday as well.

I slept like a log on Sunday, and too much of sleep seemed energy draining instead. I am feeling sleepy yet again but it could be due to the dinner I just had.

Flu hits the cohort with a few Influenza A confirmed cases. Besides having almost everyone wearing face mask in the class, the incidence actually reflects how shrewd, pragmatic and immature a person can be.

Human nature at times, can be horrid and nauseating. Ironically, not the virus.

Saturday @ Departure Lounge

Sunday, August 9, 2009

I knew Saturday's going to be sluggish (in a good way) and it certainly was.

We made our way to Departure Lounge at Mont Kiara an hour before noon for coffee and brunch. The cafe bears an exquisite signboard, contrasting achromatic black and white with breakfast, sandwiches, espresso and travel library being the quintenssence of the lounge.

We spent the rest of the afternoon reading random books and magazines. The ambience was great, well could be better if the kids weren't fighting over that green uno card at the table right next to us.

Definitely a great place to hang out for good coffee or maybe to plan the next trip!

It's a well known fact

Sunday, August 2, 2009

that most physician's hand writing is artsy, and at times too hard to fathom what's the worm-look-alike stroke in the chart. In short, awful.

IMG_2516

The nursing home visit last Thursday was informative. At least, we've had a taste of deciphering doctor's handwriting. Clerked a case on an elderly man who's on 15 different kinds of medications. So, I guess drugs to him are like m&m's, of different shape and color. We bought some daily necessities for the home. Cookies, rice and laundry soap.

IMG_2509

Sang 2 songs as a gesture of thank you to all the patients and nurses at the home.

IMG_2520

And a final group picture before bidding goodbye.

Bought 2 books on the way back at the medical books store opposite KL general hospital.

and I think nursing profession is noble.

Thursday has 25 hours

Thursday, July 30, 2009

A busy day ahead I reckon. Yet, I am here thinking of ways to lull myself to sleep, at 3am. I stared at the yellow post-it note on the wall, with thoughts of 'there goes my weekend' running through my mind. The yellow paper is filled with stuff to do and deadlines, despite me writing with a font size of 8, times new roman-ish. :)

I've given up tossing around the bed, or baa baa sheep counting. Plucked in my earphone with strings and country on the playlist. Maybe a cup of coffee later to start the day.

Thursday's going to be interesting. Case clerking, and a song performance for the folks at the nursing home before lunch. PBL trigger discussion in the evening.

Staying up isn't a bad idea after all. Found some interesting blogs and article. I am quite hyped up to finish a few relevant chapters before going to nursing home later at 7am.

So, its the 4th week of my academic calendar. Theoretically, roughly about 1.75 semester to graduation. I chuckled when I couldn't define prognosis today during case presentation. Honestly speaking, final year has so far been pretty interesting. At least there isn't anymore pharmaceutical analysis and the torturous chemical equations. Speaking about analysis, the dean's briefing on Monday was surprisingly..surprise!
Why on earth everyone around me is suddenly interested whether I am in a relationship or not! The whole class giggled when the dean risibly questioned me if I'm having one.

I am stepping down as the president on Monday. Goodbye CCA reports, meetings and tongue lashing. Literally outgoing but I have another project on hand. Hoping for a total derail from non-academic projects after August. So, I have more time for books and bed, not phonecalls or emails.

Thank you for reading if you just did. Scrolling down does not count. :)

Good morning Thursday!

p/s: Someone please, teach me how to sleep. :(

APPS Welcome Party

Wednesday, July 29, 2009

Oh, by the way, APPS is the acronym for Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium.

DSC_0175
Welcome party welcomes all participants to the symposium. We had a quick formal event before going into the fun part. The group leaders had a short dance/drama and it was hilarious. This performance was probably the most comical. Imagine Ice Kacang, Phua Chu Kang and a swap of gender. Lol

DSC_0179
Another performance from another team of group leaders.
Dance, music, and guessing game for the participants.

DSC_0241
Gift exchange session and a express language class, learning greetings from languages all over Asia Pacific. Serendipity.

And the great technical team.

APPS Day 0

Tuesday, July 28, 2009

DSC_0008
Day 0. Awaiting the arrival of participants from all over Asia Pacific! The hotel lobby was filled with people, mainly the committee to receive the participants. Not to mention the tense, anticipation and excitement to kick start the 5 days symposium.

DSC_0002
There were booths with Malaysia multi racial cultural display just before the welcome party at the hotel ballroom.

DSC_0007

DSC_0008
Participants had a chance to try Chinese calligraphy, apart from a brief description on different Chinese cultural festival and games like the Chinese yo-yo.

DSC_0060
The Koreans had fun too I think. =)

Welcome party next.

6 a.m. and I seriously need to sleep.

Monday, July 27, 2009

I shall keep a diary of this awesome event before the picture turns mouldy. It will be a document of selected photographs and captioned from the very first day till we depart.

DSC_0007
3 days before the symposium kicks off. Rehearsals and meetings and more rehearsals and more meetings to make sure things goes well.

Virulented

Monday, July 6, 2009

Well, almost.

If not the notorious ones, probably its relatives of different numerical configuration. Yes, my body and head aches. Body's temperature lingering slightly off the 37 celcius bar.

Nasal swab was negative. I took the last antiviral caps yesterday and that should end the saga.

I have all the reasons to be positive, yet I'm not. Sheer luck instead of the myth of my queer immunity. But it's quite disheartening to see the number of cases increasing daily. Great to know everyone's responding well to the treatment though.

I had 2 visits to the general hospital in 2 consecutive days. No thanks to the hospital personnel for losing my specimen bottle or what they claimed on the phone, my specimen bottle had a leakage. Oh ya, they called me at 1 a.m. by the way.

So, I've got extra holidays!

Thank you virus and APPS, for the extended semester break, and more importantly, the learning experience and definitely, friendships. :)

Oseltamivir 75mg

Asia Pacific Pharmaceutical Symposium 2009 had a great full stop on the last day of June. Details soon.
I felt great, to be part of the organizing team, working with an awesome bunch of people and that makes my participation in this symposium worthwhile. So were the participants.

Paranoid? Sigh.
Now, the vital phone call. Everyone's gonna be alright, I hope.

As The Sun Sets

Saturday, June 20, 2009

BP was humid, hot and not even a drop of rain for the past 10 days. Almost a couch potato but I still go for my random coffee session with just myself and that's the only time I step out of the house.

DSC_0073

A few meet-ups with the usual ones on some random nights. No more quirky jokes on campus life, or the funny movie we watched. A bit on the comical political scene, more on jobs seeking, post-grad and that's pretty much what's revolved around our teh-tarik and roti canai.

DSC_0024

I am addicted to food documentaries and travelogue on TV. Not forgetting the expired amazing race Asia which is still quite amusing.

DSC_0038

And now on the pictures. I lugged my camera back home and it was under-utilized. Once, and that's about it. By the beach for the sunset with WY, who promised amazing views at around 6.30pm.

DSC_0065

It was a breezy evening by the beach with a few kids swimming, and a handful watching the sunsets.

DSC_0013

We walked past the Chinese settlement towards the wooden bridge at the end of the road, with tinge of fishy aroma and sights of fish sunbathing on the rattan basket. A place popular for seafood as well, and that brought me here 4 years ago.

So, I am now back at KL, Penang next.

June

Wednesday, June 10, 2009

and halfway through 2009.

Anyway, the last 7 days were eventful. From random jogging session, meet-ups, announcement of last semester's result, Raleigh International Introduction Weekend (IW), my birthday and a good soak in the hot spring, in the middle of the night.

and so, the week wheezes through and I'm kinda missing the fun and craze.

Chronologically,

The jogs and hike made me realize I'm seriously physically unfit.

Last semester result's, a disappointment to me, but I should be grateful I'm going into the final year of my pharmacy undergrad.

It was an impromptu decision to IW, and I had fun, swimming and bathing in the river, meeting up friends and learnt that I sucked at game facilitation. Anyway, thanks to IW too, I had my 0606 birthday in the jungle, with burnt rice as cake. It was a great weekend in the jungle and by the river, with great and fun people.

The post mortem meeting for IW ended at 9.30pm on Sunday, and we headed south to the hot spring at about 11 pm. It was full moon, the sky was brightly lit, and the water was piping hot!.

Meet ups and farewell for SC, who's leaving to Australia for a year to work and travel. And a group picture to end the first week of June.

SC 036

So, everyone's back on track, to commitments and work. Some back to the daily routine of classes and labs, some flying off to travel and for projects.

And as for me, I guess I'll be going back home tomorrow (finally). Back to the days of brutally pressing the TV remote, ceiling fan gazing and brisk walking around the house to kill time.

Just kidding. I want to finish a book, meet up old friends, tweak my biological clock and probably exercise.

Sabar for another 1.5 weeks and I'm on the go again.

Good luck and happy holiday people! :)
